Project Description
The Public Sector Training and Development Project in Countries Emerging from Conflict has been developed by the South African Management Development Institute (SAMDI). Training focuses on developing public sector management skills in order to improve service delivery in Southern Sudan Rwanda and Burundi. Training is expected to reach approximately 6 900 middle and senior public sector managers in the three countries.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of March 2012 include: the Lead Trainer Development Programme trained 70 participants. The project delivered more than 2 400 training days to participants from the Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (PALAMA) and the three partner institutions in the areas of development and implementation of quality learning materials. Twenty-five staff from the Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Burundi are now capable of delivering training programmes while 13 staff from the Rwandan Institute of Administration Management have acquired skills to undertake training and/or curriculum development.
