Project Description
This project aims to reduce opportunities for corruption at the provincial city and district government levels through three interrelated components. It is designed to directly assist ten local governments in North and South Sulawesi to implement transparent practices in the following areas: one stop services (e.g. issuing of business permits) population administration services (e.g. issuing of identity cards or birth certificates) and procurement (e.g. purchasing of government supplies). The project also aims to strengthen the ability of Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission to more systematically encourage local governments to take measures to prevent corruption. For example it assists the Commission to develop a strategy for engaging local governments and civil society organizations in corruption prevention. It also assists the Commission to design or improve test and implement corruption diagnostic methods and tools for use at the local level. In addition the project improves the capacity of its partners to communicate successful anti-corruption practices to a range of other government and non-government stakeholders.
