Project Description
This project aims to help improve the quality of basic education through the Ten-year Education and Training Program and the learning conditions of rural primary school pupils. To bridge gaps in schools the project helps to improve teaching conditions by procuring and distributing reference manuals and by making educational toolkits available to teachers at 2 000 schools. A second component helps to improve the learning environment for pupils by building 150 boundary walls for schools to make the premises secure 570 desks and 570 chairs for teachers 2 000 closets to store educational toolkits and reference manuals and 30 000 table-benches for pupils.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved by the end of the project (May 2010) include: (1) Teachers now have 80 000 reference manuals and 3 097 programmed instruction packages containing geometry sets and maps to plan and teach courses. (2) Several schools have been secured by building 142 boundary walls making the environment more conducive to learning for girls and boys. (3) Principals and teachers now have 600 new desks 595 new chairs 142 storerooms for material and equipment and 2 050 storage closets for reference manuals.
