Project Description
This project supports the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA). EEPSEA supports training and research in the economic aspects of environmental and resource management. The program uses a networking approach to provide not only financial support but also facilitate meetings permit the participation of resource persons access to literature publication outlets and opportunities for comparative research across its ten member countries.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of March 2012 include: 24 research grants provided to strengthen local capacity to undertake economic analysis of environmental issues for policy development focusing on topics such as: climate change pollution control forestry and conservation coastal and marine issues water and energy and research into methodologies; 21 cross-country research grants provided for six regional or multi-country studies on similar topics; training delivered to 318 academics and policy-makers; and support provided to 64 researchers for attending conferences to disseminate their findings to the wider scientific community. These results have contributed to enhancing local capacities in the economic analysis of environmental problems enabling researchers to provide more sound advice to policy makers.
