Project Description
The Gender Equality Support Fund - Phase II (FAES II) is designed to implement a decentralized fund to finance programs and projects that promote gender equality in strategic public reforms and combat violence against women adopting an approach that focuses on stakeholder capacity building and partnership between government institutions and civil society. The goal of the project is to support Morocco's commitments to apply basic equal rights to both women and men in development policies institutions and programs. The purpose of the project is to build the capacities of Moroccan collaborators to translate gender equality into strategic public reforms while supporting partnership between government and civil society and raising public awareness.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved at of the end of this project (September 2010) include: In implementing Morocco’s national strategy to combat violence the project supported the Ministry of Health in developing a policy statement an action plan and 18 units at various hospital centres to enable the health care system to manage women and children who are victims of violence. The Ministries of Public Sector Modernization and Education have designated full-time officials to manage the integration of gender equality in their programs and to mobilize financial resources. This contributed to promoting gender equality in Morocco.
