Project Description

This project provides monitoring and evaluation services and technical assistance to help Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments manage the proceeds of the Pakistan-Canada Debt-for-Education Conversion initiative effectively. The goal of the debt conversion initiative is to improve the quality of education in Pakistan. The initiative involves converting Pakistan’s official development assistance debt to Canada ($449.6 million) into local currency and making the proceeds available to provincial and federal education authorities. The funds are used to strengthen the teacher education system in order to improve the skills of primary and elementary school teachers and education managers.
