Project Description
This project aims to promote human rights particularly people's access to social services in Jordan and the West Bank and Gaza. CIDA's contribution supports the establishment of five social development centres and helps them implement programs promoting empowerment and equality and strengthen civil society within disadvantaged communities. The centres also advocate for the legal entitlements of low-income individuals and their families in social services health care and education.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project include: Five community centres were established and have provided legal and social services to more than 450 000 individuals in Jordan and the West Bank since 2003; the centres provided life-skills training housing and school revitalization programs and health promotion programs for the elderly; and three centres have increased their ability to sustain their operations and raise funds. Overall CIDA’s contribution has helped empower civil society organizations and increase their capacity to respond to the needs of vulnerable people.
