Project Description
The goal of the project is to build the capacity of human resources to adjust the challenges facing Morocco's economy as it dismantles its tariff barriers by 2010. The purpose of the project is to support Moroccan authorities in re-engineering the various components of the vocational training system according to the skills-based approach (SBA) and in establishing the conditions needed to generalize this approach.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (November 2009) include: The elaboration and implementation of 22 programs using Competency-Based Approach (CBA) that teaches concrete skills rather than promote abstract learning in six sectors (tourism/hotel textiles/apparel handicrafts agriculture MMEE ( mechanical metallurgical electronic and electrical industries) and the tertiary sector; more than 100 vocational training professionals have been initiated to CBA; 11 Moroccan methodologists have been certified in more than 50 fundamental competencies of CBA; 100% of the trainees in the sector of tourism (kitchen/restoration) have found a job. This allowed the Moroccan authorities to implement the conditions required to mainstream CBA.
