Project Description
This project contributes to controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria and to the provision of sustainable equitable and comprehensive health care for those infected and affected by the disease. It supports a series of sub-projects designed to develop multi-sectoral approaches to addressing HIV/AIDS prevention care and community support. The sub-projects also aim to integrate gender equality and human rights considerations in to the HIV/AIDS response.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2010) include: 1) A handbook on integrating gender and human rights mainstreaming into HIV/AIDS programming was launched at the Pan-African Summit on AIDS Tuberculosis and Malaria; and 2) gender was integrated into the State Strategic Plan of Cross River and 3) six zonal workshops covering 28 states were held on gender and HIV/AIDS targeting the State Action Committee on AIDS the State Ministry of Health women living with HIV/AIDS and networks of people living with HIV/AIDS.
