Project Description

The goal of this project is to ensure that poverty reduction and sustainable development activities in Cameroon take into account the equal participation of women. The project is the Canadian International Development Agency's (CIDA) response to the development priorities outlined by the Government of Cameroon in 1999. These priorities include: poverty reduction; the re-enforcement of women's capacities; and the integration of gender equality into development initiatives as a whole. The Gender and Development Fund supports local projects that demonstrate an equal division of power between women and men in social economic and political decision making thus breaking down many discriminatory boundaries deeply imbedded in Cameroon.
