Project Description
This project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Malawi Ministry of Education Science and Technology to supply high-quality gender-sensitive educational materials to students teachers and teachers-in-training throughout the country.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2012) include: over 20 million units of educational material (primary school textbooks teacher manuals) have been printed and delivered to over 5 000 primary schools in Malawi. These materials include textbooks for visually impaired students. The project has increased the capacity of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) to plan manage procure and distribute educational material using accountable and transparent business processes. The project has contributed to providing an adequate supply of gender-sensitive educational materials to teachers teacher trainees and children in the primary grades to improve the teaching and learning process; and to ensuring that MoEST’s systems for planning management procurement and distribution of education materials are efficient effective and transparent.
