Project Description
This multi-donor Fund is managed by the World Bank with the goal of improving the quality of basic education of all children in Vietnam. Project results include strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Education and Training and its local level administrative units to plan and undertake improvements in quality equality of access targeting of resources and coordination of basic education in Vietnam within a national Education for All (EFA) framework.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project include: completing medium-term education and training development plans for 2011-2015 and annual plans for 2010-2011 in all 63 provinces. The new planning approach improved feasibility planning enhanced participation of stakeholders in the planning process and strengthened local capacity in education planning. The project also achieved other key development objectives such as knowledge sharing harmonizing cooperation and dialogue about common and emerging issues through Education Forum meetings and strengthened quality assurance and monitoring implementation of provincial education planning activities by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET). Through this initiative MOET was able to strengthen its capacity to provide support to provinces for provincial planning activities and assist provincial education authorities to prepare their Five-Year Education Plans. This in turn contributes to improving the quality of basic education for children in Vietnam.
