Project Description
This project works to further the social economic cultural civil and political development of women adolescent girls and girl children especially those from marginalized groups. By providing advisory services to selected civil society organizations funding small projects that support women's rights and access to services and supporting the growth of civil society and government networks that share best practices and lessons learned the project seeks to increase awareness of and support for gender equality.
Progress & Results Achieved
As of the project’s conclusion on March 31 2011: The project had supported 1 689 staff (1067 female 622 male) of 26 Egyptian civil society organizations promoting gender equality particularly in women’s economic and civil empowerment. This has been accomplished through the provision of 125 targeted training sessions focused on participatory development skills internal governance skills and project management skills. As well the project has provided financial support for community service activities identified by the organizations. As a result the supported organizations have seen marked improvement in their capacity to apply more participatory approaches with their constituencies.
