Project Description
The goal of the program is to improve information-based decision-making in relation to food security. The project aims at strengthening the monitoring and evaluation capacity of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The project uses Ghanaian resources to track the achievement of results from CIDA's Ghana Food Security program as a whole.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of the end of the project include: Electronic linkages were established between MoFA’s 10 regional offices and MoFA headquarters. This improved the exchange of information communication and reporting between offices. Monitoring and evaluation training manuals were improved. Training was provided to 81 district extension officers in Northern Ghana to enhance their knowledge and skills in monitoring and evaluating MoFA activities. This enables MoFA to prepare timely accurate evidence-based reports. A monitoring and evaluation system was developed for MoFA. Three officers were trained in information collection and data analysis. They are now working in MoFA’s Project Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Department. Two baseline studies were conducted to measure the effectiveness and ease of access of various public extension practices in Ghana.
