Project Description
This project works to strengthen selected civil society organizations and institutions in Egypt by providing technical assistance and guidance to help them improve their ability to plan and deliver rights-based gender-sensitive and participatory programs in their communities. Anticipated results are greater creation sharing and use of knowledge among civil society organizations and government especially on development issues and more effective collaborative work towards gender equality in Egypt.
Progress & Results Achieved
The project ended on March 31 2013 but most activities were completed by 31 December 2012. By the projects end-date the Participatory Development Program (PDP) supported 77 sub-projects designed to apply participatory rights based and gender sensitive approaches. 80 organizations received Capacity Development support to build their skills in applying these approaches. This has been accomplished through the provision of over 100 targeted training sessions focused on participatory development skills internal governance skills and project management skills. As well the project has provided financial support for community service activities identified by the organizations. As a result these organizations have seen a marked improvement in their capacity to apply more participatory approaches with their constituencies.
