Project Description
This project aims to create a safer more inclusive environment for vulnerable populations in Burkina Faso especially internally displaced women and girls and their host communities. Project activities include: (1) strengthening technical and operational capacity within local health facilities to provide integrated and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services family planning and emergency obstetric and neonatal care to women and girls (15 to 49 years); (2) improving health care providers’ and community-based health workers’ skills to provide holistic care to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) while bolstering their referral and reporting skills; and (3) enhancing the technical and operational capacity of public authorities to record and issue civil status documents to help better protect internally displaced women and children. The project aims to adopt a nexus approach to improve living standards while fostering social cohesion peaceful coexistence and conflict prevention by promoting a culture of solidarity and peaceful resolution of community disputes. The project directly supports strengthening technical and operational capacity and skills of local health authorities civil registry agents and community organizations while entrusting them to implement project activities in their communities. This aims to ensure local ownership and more sustainable outcomes.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased women’s and girls’ use of sexual and reproductive health services including family planning and gender-based violence (GBV) care services; (2) increased protection for women and girls by issuing civil status documentation and access to GBV prevention and response programs; and (3) increased community participation in dispute resolution and peacebuilding.
