Project Description
This project aims to improve the conservation and restoration of ecosystems through integrated fire management in the Amazon basin. Project activities include: (1) developing a digital platform for the fire hub as a centralized information source of integrated fire management; (2) conducting regional training on integrated fire management; (3) supporting rural and Indigenous communities to reduce wildfire risks and engage in conservation; and (4) supporting cross-country collaboration. The project aims to directly support 500 fire professionals at the local regional and national level. It also seeks to indirectly support an estimated 100 000 people through the digital platform and cooperation activities.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced implementation of integrated fire management policies and practices at all levels guided by improved knowledge and collaboration among stakeholders; (2) increased adoption of new and improved integrated fire management training materials and tools by national and regional actors; and (3) increased area under conservation and restoration through engagement of Indigenous communities and other local knowledge holders (women and men).
