Project Description
This project aims to help people in underserved communities in developing countries become more financially secure. It does this by supporting the creation of new financial solutions that attract both government and private investment to help meet the Sustainable Development Goals. The project seeks to help both established and emerging fund managers to create financial solutions that support gender equality reduce poverty and inequality and mobilize more private investment in developing countries. Project activities include: (1) providing grants to help design and structure funds so they are easily investible; (2) providing training resources and tools on standard blended finance structures and impact objectives; and (3) providing mentorship and networking support to help bring the funds to investment and launch phase.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased financing to businesses and projects that make a positive impact in underserved areas of developing countries especially those that usually can’t attract commercial funding; and (2) increased the number of fund and asset managers adopting blended finance models that incorporate gender equality and impact standards thereby accelerating the spread of these models.
