Project Description
This technical assistance project is in support of a $120 million sovereign loan to the Republic of Moldova and aims to support climate resilience and gender equality in rural areas of Moldova. This is done through sustainable management of forest pasture and agricultural resources as well as economic and educational empowerment of women. Project activities include: (1) delivering gender-sensitive trainings on climate-smart agriculture forest management and integrated ecosystem-based agroforestry; (2) establishing nurseries for forest community -based enterprises; and (3) providing technical equipment and training to local public authorities.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased health and resilience of ecosystems through the implementation of sustainable forest and management practice; (2) increased economic and income-generating activities in climate responsive agri-and forest businesses implemented by rural women; and (3) increased inclusive governance frameworks by local public authorities and communities to promote sustainable forest and pasture management.
