Project Description

The Sustainable Land Fund 2 (SLF 2) is a targeted EUR 350 million impact investment fund supporting projects in sustainable agriculture and forestry globally. Building on the success of Mirova’s Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) Fund this successor Fund seeks to continue increase climate adaptation and mitigation biodiversity protection community inclusion and gender equality. The Fund aims to improve the environment and well-being of vulnerable populations including smallholder farmers and women in emerging markets. Project activities include mobilizing private sector capital to finance impactful companies adopting sustainable land management practices. The Fund intends to finance over 30 projects benefiting 100 000 farmers and workers reaching a minimum of 30% women. Also the Fund aims to demonstrate its capacity to mobilize capital at scale to drive longer-term sustainable financing in the sector.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased flow of capital toward sustainable land use projects in developing countries; (2) increased climate resilience of investee companies participating communities and ecosystems in developing countries; and (3) increased economic resilience including for women in developing countries.
