Project Description
This project supports the United Nations Mission in Cyprus to conduct a series of household surveys and focus group discussions over 3 years. The polling exercises aim to support the ongoing efforts of the Mission to provide evidence-based research data to gain a greater understanding of the fears hopes and attitudes of Cypriots on both sides of the divide. This enhanced understanding seeks to inform the United Nations Mission in Cyprus reporting to UN headquarters and the Security Council. Also it seeks to allow better design of engagement and communication strategies with local and international community representatives to help contribute to finding a sustainable solution to the ongoing Cyprus issue.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased understanding of attitudes fears and hopes of the Cypriots on both sides (Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots); (2) enhanced capacity to use data and strengthened reporting to the United Nations headquarters the members of the UN Security Council and relevant international stakeholders; and (3) increased opportunities for engagement with the 2 leaders local media academia and stakeholders in Cyprus through strengthened United Nations outreach and communication strategy on the Cyprus issue.
