Project Description

This project aims to provide funding to the United States Department of State’s Foundational Infrastructure for the Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Capacity-Building Program. Project activities include: (1) delivering at least 5 capacity-building workshops on nuclear security safety and non-proliferation for small modular reactors for countries in Eastern Europe Central Asia Latin America and the Indo-Pacific; and (2) providing travel support to subject matter expert trainers to implement the capacity-building workshops.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased knowledge and awareness among technical experts in beneficiary countries about nuclear security safety and non-proliferation for small modular reactors; and (2) better-informed and responsible nuclear reactor deployment decisions in beneficiary states consistent with nuclear security safety and non-proliferation standards.
