This project aims to improve the safety security and well-being of forcibly displaced women in Mexico. This is done by facilitating access to comprehensive support systems and integration programs. Project activities include: (1) liaising with relevant government authorities to identify women displaced by violence who need to be relocated to ensure their safety; (2) providing women with safe transport to new cities temporary housing upon arrival and assistance in securing long-term housing; (3) providing psychosocial support and counseling sessions with women participants; (4) referring women participants to vocational training and skills development programs; (5) facilitating job placement meetings between women participants and private sector employers; (6) supporting the enrollment process for relocated children in local schools; and (7) conducting advocacy and awareness-raising workshops to improve policies and programs targeting the integration of displaced populations. The project benefits 100 forcibly displaced women in Mexico who are survivors of gender-based violence and are taking part in the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR’s Local Integration Program.
