Project Description
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations program aims to restore resilient inclusive and sustainable agricultural livelihoods especially for ethnic minority women affected by Typhoon Yagi in northern Vietnam. The project supports the recovery of agricultural livelihoods while addressing both immediate needs and fostering long-term resilience to mitigate future risks. It focuses particularly on empowering women and ethnic minority populations by strengthening their capacities and ensuring their active participation and leadership in the recovery process. Project activities include: (1) collecting baseline data of the vulnerable households assessing the market and identifying local traders to participate in the voucher program; (2) providing vouchers to beneficiaries including sensitization on voucher entitlement and how to use vouchers; (3) facilitating trainings for facilitators and beneficiaries on climate-smart agriculture practices; (4) providing nursery services seedlings and agricultural tools; and (5) distributing tree seedling to vulnerable households. The project aims to reach up to 7 300 households with agriculture kits 2 400 households with tree seedlings 6 000 people with training in climate-smart agriculture practices and 110 women with training in climate-smart nursery management.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) stabilized household crop yields for those affected by Typhoon Yagi in targeted provinces; (2) improved disaster risk management practices by authorities in selected provinces; and (3) increased women’s and ethnic minority groups’ empowerment to lead climate-smart agricultural livelihoods and disaster management.
