Project Description

This project aims to release previously contaminated land cleared of explosive ordnance to communities in Anbar and enhance the participation of iraqi women in mine action operations including decision-making processes. Project activities include: (1) implementing community outreach programs to facilitate greater participation of iraqi women in mine action operations including their involvement in decision-making processes; (2) conducting non-technical surveys of communities affected by explosive ordnance; and (3) conducting comprehensive land release operations to support stabilization reconstruction and development projects.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved economic recovery and stability in Anbar; (2) strengthened representation and participation in decision-making processes by women in the mine action sector in Iraq; and (3) enhanced capacity of Norwegian people’s aid and other mine action actors to mainstream gender into operations; and (4) released land put back in productive use.
