Project Description

This project aims to empower civilian security providers in northeast Syria to deliver effective and equitable security services supported by the population they serve. Project activities include: (1) conducting community dialogue sessions between the Internal security forces (ISF) and the communities they service; (2) identifying community security concerns and implementing small community projects in response; (3) delivering community policing training including to women police officers; and (4) supporting the ISF to refurbish and outfit a women police station and a women learning centre aligned with community policing principles.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased engagement of Syrians across northeast Syria in identifying communicating and addressing their local security needs; and (2) improved capacity of the ISF to plan and deliver inclusive policing services in line with community policing principles and practices.
