Project Description
This project aims to counter disinformation and extremist narratives and promote accountability by providing Syrians of all backgrounds access to reliable and truthful information. Project activities include: (1) providing gender and trauma-sensitive media development training mentoring and operational and productive assistance to a core group of independent media outlets; (2) producing content that targets marginalized groups including women youth and returnees from displacement camps and focuses on promoting media literacy; (3) providing leadership training and mentoring for women and young journalists of a women-led media outlet; and (4) conducting research to monitor audience perception of content and media credibility relevance and professionalism.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved capacity of independent media outlets in inclusive and gender-sensitive journalistic production and management; (2) enhanced capacity to counter disinformation perpetuated by the Syrian regime and other harmful actors; and (3) increased content on issues of concern to Syrians including vulnerable populations such as returnees from detainment camps across northeast Syria.
