Project Description
This project supports women peacebuilders in their continued commitment to foster peace deepen resilience and fight for equality and pluralism through the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN). Project activities include: (1) strengthening the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL) to conduct and inform gendered peacebuilding policy and practice; (2) enhancing the capacity of women peacebuilders to design and implement gendered peacebuilding initiatives that respond to local context; (3) increasing awareness of peace and security policymakers practitioners and experts of ICAN’s gendered peace and security recommendations and practical guidance tools; and (4) improving knowledge and skills of the Women Peace and Security community of practice on the role expertise and strategies of women peacebuilders.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased influence and impact of women peacebuilders on peace and security in fragile and conflict affected contexts; (2) strengthened movement of locally rooted women peacebuilders promoting peace rights and pluralism globally; and (3) improved participation protection and funding of women peacebuilders in peace and security policy and practice.
