Project Description

This project aims to improve health outcomes and rights particularly sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for women and girls (W&Gs) in 6 selected districts in Central Sulawesi and Papua. It particularly focuses on marginalized or vulnerable women and girls. Project activities include: (1) training in gender responsive SRHR health care provision for health centre (puskesmas) workers. This includes emergency obstetric and newborn care family planning postabortion care female genital mutilation gender-based violence and nutrition; (2) equipping health centres providing ambulances and setting up mobile and satellite clinics in hard to reach communities; (3) building capacity of women and girls in SRHR; (4) delivering gender responsive training of community leadership including religious and traditional leaders on gender equality issues; and (5) raising gender awareness of boys men and parents. This project reaches 420 000 people directly and 1.7 million people indirectly in the 6 districts.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved delivery of quality gender responsive environmentally sustainable health care particularly sexual and reproductive health (SRH) at facilities and communities for women and girls. This includes those who are marginalized or vulnerable in Central Sulawesi and Papua; and (2) increased use of quality gender responsive environmentally sustainable health care particularly sexual and reproductive health (SRH) at facilities and communities by women and girls. This includes those who are marginalized or vulnerable in Central Sulawesi (CS) and Papua.
