Project Description
October 2024 – Myanmar is experiencing a humanitarian crisis driven by armed conflict economic hardship protracted displacement and vulnerability to climate shocks. An estimated 18.6 million people require humanitarian assistance in 2024. Humanitarian organizations operate in an increasingly complex environment with humanitarian access becoming an ever-greater challenge due to rising insecurity and restrictions. With GAC’s support Acted Canada improves access to safe water sanitation and hygiene facilities financial assistance and inclusive protection services for the most vulnerable people. Project activities include: (1) installing water purification systems; (2) constructing of latrines; (3) providing multipurpose cash assistance; and (4) providing protection services.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced ability to utilize lifesaving hygiene and sanitation assistance; (2) improved financial capacity for the most vulnerable; and (3) increased access to protection assistance. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
