Project Description

This project aims to advance political support for and implementation of the International atomic energy agency’s (IAEA) Code of conduct on the safety and security of radioactive sources and its supplementary guidance. Project activities include: (1) engaging senior and technical stakeholders through briefings expert missions and discussions on the margins of international and regional meetings; (2) conducting expert missions regional workshops and international meetings; and (3) establishing or updating national registers of radioactive sources.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased political support for the Code of Conduct and its supplementary guidance; (2) increased capacity to sustainably implement the Code of Conduct and its supplementary guidance; and (3) increased capacity to maintain accountancy of radioactive sources.
