Project Description

This project aims to fund international and regional capacity-building activities to counter North Korean sanctions evasion. Project activities include: (1) strengthening North Korean sanctions enforcement and information-sharing capabilities of maritime and compliance officials in Latin America; (2) strengthening information-sharing capabilities of maritime authorities in the Indo-Pacific; (3) capacity-building on North Korean counter-proliferation finance in Francophone Africa; and (4) cybersecurity training for maritime stakeholders in 4 Indo-Pacific countries.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced awareness and knowledge among maritime officials to effectively identify and interdict illicit North Korean sanctions activity in Latin America and Southeast Asia; (2) enhanced awareness and knowledge among public and private sector financials professionals on identifying investigating and responding to North Korean proliferation finance and sanctions evasion; and (3) enhanced awareness and knowledge among stakeholders at ports in 4 Indo-Pacific countries to identify and mitigate North Korean cybersecurity threats.
