Project Description
This project aims to increase the climate and biodiversity resilience of local communities in Nigeria including men and women in the Federal Capital Territory Niger Plateau Ogun Lagos and Edo states. Project activities include: (1) launching 2 calls for proposals for local organizations working with women on climate action and biodiversity in Nigeria; (2) training selected organizations and women beneficiaries in fundraising financial literacy and climate-smart agriculture; (3) delivering gender-sensitive skills training of target communities in biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation and mitigation; (4) implementing gender-sensitive local climate action awareness campaigns; and (5) building capacity of the local implementing partner in the design and implementation of gender-sensitive climate action projects.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened climate adaptation mitigation or biodiversity conservation practices of women and men in targeted areas; (2) increased capacity of funded organizations to conduct gender-inclusive climate action projects and programs focused on rural women and girls in Nigeria; and (3) strengthened participation in climate action planning and decision-making processes by local authorities men and women in targeted areas.
