Project Description
This project aims to further address the ongoing impact of gun violence on youth in Vieux Fort in Saint Lucia facing challenges such as trauma grief and disrupted education due to violence-related losses. The project aims to restore their emotional and academic well-being rebuild confidence and empower them with practical skills for long-term resilience creating a lasting positive impact on the community. It provides trauma-informed mental health support remedial education to bridge academic gaps and after-school programs to develop life skills and resilience.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved youth emotional resilience and better coping mechanisms reintegrating successfully into schools and communities; (2) improved academic performance reduces dropout rates and enhances long-term educational outcomes; (3) enhanced decision-making and life skills prepare youth for positive community engagement and future employment; and (4) strengthened community networks to become more cohesive fostering long-term support for youth development and crime prevention.
