Project Description

This project aims to improve capacity of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) to anticipate respond to and recover from biological emergencies (including bio-crime and bio-terrorism events). It also seeks to ensure business continuity in international health-security crises contributing to continued agile immediate and internationally coordinated support to WOAH’s 182 member countries. Project activities include: (1) establishing an Incident Management System; (2) providing capacity-building in WOAH member states to respond to emergencies resulting from the deliberate release of biological pathogens; (3) developing scientific and evidence-based guidance and standards for emergency management; and (4) disseminating of good practices for emergency management.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced emergency response to biological threats by WOAH Members; and (2) improved internationally coordinated support provided by WOAH to its Members in case of an emergency.
