Project Description

This project seeks to reduce the threat of stolen or illicitly trafficked nuclear or radiological materials to the Ukrainian and neighbouring populations. This addresses areas with imminent threats and security vulnerabilities close to combat zones including in the cities of Dnipro and Kharkiv. Project activities include: (1) providing mobile radiation detection communication and patrol equipment to the National Police of Ukraine; and (2) providing related operational and maintenance training on the equipment.

Expected Results

The expected outcome of this project includes improved detection and response to nuclear or radiological security incidents by the National Police of Ukraine. This support focuses on the cities of Dnipro and Kharkiv.
