Project Description
October 2024 – Myanmar is experiencing a humanitarian crisis driven by armed conflict economic hardship protracted displacement and vulnerability to climate shocks. An estimated 18.6 million people require humanitarian assistance in 2024. Humanitarian organizations are operating in an increasingly complex environment with humanitarian access becoming an ever-greater challenge due to rising insecurity and restrictions. With GAC’s support Humanity and Inclusion Canada improves access to health and protection services in Myanmar. Project activities include: (1) providing rehabilitation mental health and psychosocial services; (2) providing cash assistance; (3) providing protection awareness sessions and services; and (4) raising awareness of the risks associated with explosive ordnance.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved access to health services including the provision of mental health psychosocial and functional rehabilitation services; (2) increased knowledge on explosive ordnance risk and protection; and (3) increased access to gender-based violence services. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
