Project Description
This project aims to provide expert support and technical advice to member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) the ASEAN Secretariat and African partners. It seeks to help mitigate biological threats strengthen regional biological security and enhance the capacity of participating countries to respond to emerging infectious diseases and other security-relevant biological threats.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened knowledge and awareness amongst ASEAN and African partner countries of current biosafety and biosecurity threats health emergence preparedness and response best practices; (2) strengthened regional disease surveillance systems including early and accurate detection data analysis and information sharing within the ASEAN and African regions; and (3) strengthened coordination between ASEAN member states and African states with the Global Partnership Global Health Security Conference Global Biosecurity Dialogue the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) and the Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa.
