Project Description

October 2024 – Afghanistan continues to experience deteriorating humanitarian conditions with high levels of need cutting across all provinces and sectors. In 2024 an estimated 23.7 million people require humanitarian assistance due to the impacts of many years of conflict chronic food insecurity displacement broad economic crisis and climatic events. With GAC’s support Save the Children Canada helps provide lifesaving humanitarian health nutrition and psychosocial support in Afghanistan. Project activities include: (1) providing essential health services including psychosocial support; (2) training health care providers; (3) rehabilitating health facilities; and (4) providing protection services.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased utilization of essential health services; and (2) enhanced protective environment to respond to protection risks for vulnerable people. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
