Project Description
This project aims to increase accountability for human rights abuses and violence in Myanmar by using open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques. These techniques help to identify document and verify instances of alleged human rights abuses and violence in Myanmar. Project activities include: (1) capturing analysing verifying and archiving content related to violence and human rights abuses; (2) equipping the United Nations and the democratic government with reliable evidence to inform action; (3) establishing and maintaining a trusted source of information for media research and civil society organizations; and (4) providing open source and data verification capacity building in the local language.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased international legal accountability and diplomatic efforts; (2) increased informed media coverage of human rights abuses in Myanmar using project data; and (3) enhanced capabilities of Myanmar partners and internal project staff to apply their skills in documenting human rights abuses.
