Project Description
This project aims to reduce the threat posed by explosive remnants of war and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable populations in Cambodia. Project activities include: (1) surveying potential contaminated areas and conducting mine clearance operations; (2) delivering explosive ordnance risk education to impacted populations; (3) providing environmental awareness and agricultural development training to enhance the economic autonomy of women who both head households and own agricultural land; and (4) organizing and hosting an exhibition in Siem Reap on the margins of the 5th Review Conference of the Ottawa Treaty to promote the universalization of the Ottawa Treaty.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased safer access to land resources livelihoods in explosive remnants of war-affected communities in Cambodia; (2) enhanced gender inclusivity and sustainable environmental impact in mine action response in Cambodia; and (3) increased opportunity for further mine action initiatives.
