Project Description
This project aims to empower 65 indigenous youths of 5 Maya Golden Landscape Belize watershed communities through training and mentorship in watershed monitoring and environmental advocacy. By building their skills and knowledge the organization aims to ensure equal gender-inclusive participation and representation of youths who can lead conservation efforts and secure sustainable nature-based livelihood opportunities for future generations.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of the project include: (1) improved ability to actively monitor freshwater health of 4 watersheds in the Maya Golden Landscape; (2) enhanced empowerment of environmental groups in climate change education environmental advocacy and conservation storytelling techniques; and (3) increased knowledge exchange within 3 communities through the creation of co-created and led youth forums.
