Project Description
This project aims to address the high rate of intimate partner violence in Guyana and promotes youth empowerment. Project activities include: (1) providing education and capacity strengthening sessions for community members on issues regarding gender-based violence; (2) conducting training sessions for Indigenous women focused on entrepreneurship and climate-smart agriculture; (3) engaging community members to create culturally relevant and gender-sensitive educational radio content segments on gender-based violence; and (4) delivering comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services to survivors of gender-based violence. The project will benefit Indigenous communities in Regions 1 and 9 of Guyana and is implemented by the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased knowledge of gender-based violence prevention among community leaders and healthcare workers; and (2) improved access to sexual and reproductive health services for survivors of gender-based violence.
