Project Description
November 2024 - The Philippines faces an exceptionally challenging tropical cyclone season with 3 consecutive typhoons affecting nearly 9 million people across 17 of the country’s 18 regions. In response the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs issued a Humanitarian Needs and Priorities Plan to support 210 000 people impacted the cyclones and flooding from November 2024 to January 2025. With GAC's support the World Food Programme (WFP) helps provide food assistance and logistical services to address lifesaving and time-critical needs of vulnerable people living in the worst affected provinces. Project activities include: (1) providing immediate food assistance; (2) distributing emergency cash assistance; and (3) supporting logistical operations.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved access to emergency food assistance for affected communities; and (2) increased logistic services to support the humanitarian response in the Philippines. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
