Project Description

This project aims to increase Sri Lanka’s capacity to detect and deter the smuggling of nuclear or radiological materials. It specifically supports Sri Lanka’s navy to patrol and secure its territorial waters from maritime smugglers. Project activities include: (1) providing radiation detection identification and vessel boarding search and secure equipment to Sri Lanka’s navy; and (2) providing related operational and maintenance training on the equipment.

Expected Results

The expected outcome of this project includes: improved maritime detection and response by the Sri Lankan Navy to proliferation and use of nuclear and other radioactive material.
