Project Description
This project aims to improve law enforcement capacities and community resilience to violent extremism and gender-based violence (GBV) in Tunisia. Project activities include: (1) assessing and conducting a study on the interconnections between violence against women and violent extremism to inform evidence based interventions; (2) implementing community-led interventions and actions plans to address key socioeconomic drivers of violent extremism and GBV while strengthening the coordination and collaborative relationships between the Internal Security Forces (ISF) civil society organizations and women leaders; (3) building capacity for the ISF and specialized GBV units to enhance the delivery of gender sensitive services to women victims of violence and the use of community policing approaches to prevent violence against women and violent extremism; and (4) improving critical infrastructure and IT equipment to enhance effective GBV and PVE investigations in accordance with international gender and human rights standards.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased women’s’ access to sexual and gender-based violence victim services and community level involvement in prevention of violent extremism (PVE) initiatives; (2) enhanced provision of SGBV victim services to women by security and community actors in accordance with international gender and human rights standards and good practices; (3) strengthened multidimensional assistance (social economic health legal psychological etc.) and coordination between ecosystem actors (Internal Security Forces (ISF) Local Security Committees (LSCs) Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Women Leaders Network etc.) at the local level to prevent violence against women and provide care for SGBV victims.
