Project Description

This project aims to improve the resilience of African communities and economies to the impacts of climate change. Project activities include: (1) providing private and public organizations advice on incorporating gender-responsive adaptation solutions into large-scale investments designs in Africa. It does so by focusing on 4 areas: food security infrastructure and nature-based solutions youth entrepreneurship and adaptation jobs creation and innovative finance for adaptation; (2) leading advocacy efforts on climate adaptation in high-level meetings to inspire climate action; (3) conducting research and analysis on current and future climate risks and vulnerabilities to inform adaptation solutions for systems assets and communities; and (4) collaborating with governments to integrate climate gender-responsive adaptation into their national policies and strategies.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved food security for women men girls and boys by building climate-smart agriculture and resilient food systems; (2) enhanced resilience of infrastructure and services for water transport energy and urban systems to climate change; (3) increased entrepreneurship skills and adaptation jobs for young women and men; and (4) increased access to financial resources for climate adaptation solutions.
