Project Description

This project aims to enhance the well-being and fulfillment of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of girls adolescent girls and young women. It seeks to create an equal and gender-based violence-free environment to strengthen the bodily autonomy of girls (ages 10 to 14) adolescents (ages 15 to 19) and young women (ages 20 to 29) focusing on those most at risk and left behind. The project aims to generate political and technical dialogue at national and territorial levels particularly in regions with a significant presence of Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities and Venezuelan refugees and migrants. It also encourages the involvement of government officials traditional authorities and civil society organizations where adolescents and young people actively participate. Project activities include: (1) providing technical assistance to national authorities to develop clear and actionable policy recommendations. It does so to improve existing policies and regulations on SRHR and gender-based violence (GBV); (2) enable capacity development and providing technical assistance in implementing culturally relevant attention models on SRHR for adolescents in selected areas; (3) training GBV services operators at the national and sub-national levels on quality management of GBV cases; (4) establishing life-skills programmes for girls adolescent girls and young women in selected areas to enhance autonomies and leadership capacity; and (5) conducting campaigns on gender equality SRHR and the right to a life without GBV. These campaigns target boys young men and girls adolescent girls and young women in selected areas with girls adolescent girls and young women-led faith-based organizations and mass media. This project directly benefits over 40 000 girls adolescent girls and young women in the provinces of Ayacucho Piura and San Juan de Lurigancho district (Lima). It also indirectly benefits 120 000 girls adolescent girls and young women

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened policies laws and financial frameworks promoting preventing and responding to sexual and reproductive health rights; (2) improved provision of quality gender-responsive health education protection and justice services. These services guarantee girls adolescent girls and young women exercise equal citizenship and access to full enjoyment of their rights; and (3) improved behaviours social and cultural beliefs and practices of girls women men families and communities to transform gender norms in selected Ayacucho Piura and Lima territories.
