Project Description
This project aims to increase citizen participation in Colombian transitional justice processes focusing on Indigenous women and girls and lesbian gay bisexual transsexual and intersex (LGBTI) populations. This project also aims to build the capacities of Colombian justice sector actors including lawyers and authorities from the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (SJP). It also seeks to advance cases of grave human rights (HR) violations carried out in the context of the conflict between government forces and the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC for its acronym in Spanish).
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of the project include: 1) increased contribution of civil society in particular indigenous women and girls and people of sexual and gender diversity (GSD) to peace-building mechanisms using a HR-based approach sensitive to gender and ethnic diversity; 2) increased effectiveness of justice actors in ensuring legal representation and care for victims of serious HR violations and the repression of these violations in a way that is adapted to the needs and intersectional specificities of the victims.
