Project Description
The project aims to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of Ukrainians including women and internally-displaced persons by addressing the threat of explosive ordnance present across vast areas of the country. Project activities include: (1) conducting non-technical survey and subsequent manual clearance in targeted communities; (2) providing capacity building to key national stakeholders; and (3) establishing a Gender and Diversity Working Group to promote gender-transformative mine action in Ukraine.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved access to civilian infrastructures and key locations in Ukraine; (2) sustainably managed & nationally-owned humanitarian mine action response; and (3) enhanced gender inclusivity in Ukraine’s mine action sector.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of May 2025 include: (1) cleared 115 891 square meters of land from explosive ordnance; (2) conducted non-technical survey in 498 settlements; and (3) delivered equipment to the State special transport services including personnel vehicles tablets and mine detectors.
